AL-Rabee' Recordings

Biography

AL-Rabee' Recordings in Mosul is a unique record store that has been archiving and preserving Iraqi musical heritage. Established in 1968 by Taha Khadr, it is now managed by his son, Ammar Taha. The shop has collected over 40,000 hours of music and recordings from renowned Arab and Iraqi artists, including Kurdish singers, Western, and classical music, historical photographs and vintage playback devices. Despite a decline in business due to the rise of the internet and social media, the shop plays a vital role in safeguarding cultural identity by documenting authentic works. It remains a rare and valuable resource for scholars, musicians, and collectors seeking to access Iraqi musical history.
